A recently found page from Team Poseidon's Marine Life Transmogrification manuscript. It details Team Poseidon's: 'Octo Marine'. Which was one of their more successful transmogrification experiments which they undertook upon marine life. With these perverse experiments Team Poseidon endeavoured to control many aquatic life forms to assist them in the battle against the Aquanautics. The Octo Marine was used to infiltrate Aquanautic compounds. Due to the Cephalopod's natural jet propulsion the Octo Marine was able to penetrate Aquanautic underwater defenses with great speed and relative ease; proving most effective at administering a quick offensive. Armed with the standard harpoon headwear and three 'Limpet' mines upon it's tentacles the 'Octo Marine' became feared amoung the Aquanautic fraternity.

To cope with the demands of battle as well as function under water for long periods of time The Aquanautics modified the traditional diving helmet. By using toughened glass for the front window they managed to limit the need for excess brass and copper. This brought with it two advantages: The ability for the diver to manoeuvre with greater ease and the significant benefit of having better vision. This The Aquanautics believed would give them the advantage in under water warfare against Team Poseidon.

These guys are from Team Poseidon rival Eco-warriors to The Aquanautics.

Team Poseidon are Eco-Warriors who believe in the power of the Harpoon and have heavily adapted the traditional water weapon to suit their underwater requirements. These two Eco-warrior favour the Rotary Trident-Harpoon, for it's rapid release of arrows and easy to load magazines.

This is a rough outline for the gear an AQUANAUTIC will be equipped with. This particular Diver is a short range Ocean Warrior. Hence the small Raygun. Long Range warriors will be suitably equipped for deep Ocean missions.

These guys utilise the old fashioned Diving suits as it allows them to explore deeper into the earths Oceans.

Usually I like to create these things with pencil and paper first but I thought I'd give the wacom tablet a try with this character "Mitzy Dee". It's all done in Illustrator - my favourite piece of software.

Colour added along with highlights. This is probably as far as I'll go with this as it was always an experiment. Once I have a scanner I'll draw a better pencil sketch and consider the whole thing with the idea of a better finish.

In time I'll draw a series of these. As those Islands around Lago Di Maggori are really inspiring.

Which means I can do this.

I like to use Illustrator to colour as much of my work as possible and the fact that I was struggling to turn my line work into vectors suggested that once again I would go without submitting an image for the monthly challenge.

However, I just made the deadline and in the process learnt that I can happily take a picture of my line work -if I have to- and still be able to vectorise the image and colour within Illustrator...

...So here is Tiq Taq. A sort of 'Steampunk' styled robot, who over the century has undergone various upgrades -- resulting in a droid of rather discombobulated parts.

...the main reason why I wasn't going to bother was because I don't yet have a scanner. So scanning in a clean and clear image was going to be tricky. However thanks to my girlfriend who insisted I use her digital camera to 'capture' this image (black ink on tracing paper) I was able to at least take a picture of this Robot. After opening it with Photoshop I was then able to clean up the image -- which really meant removing any 'greys'. Once saved I imported this to Illustrator as a tiff file, and using the Trace' option, I was finally able to vectorise the linework...

Stylized monthly challenge - CENTAUR.

Had fun with this one. At first I was going to do a robot Centaur but that just seemed to lack any overall enjoyment at the rendering stage. I eventually decided on the idea of a little girl; 'Jabbie', having a jolly good time on her own at some kind of abandoned 'Merry-go-round' where the ride was made up of these Centaurs instead of the customary horses. Here she has befriended a Centaur called: Winston.

For this particular cartoon I used illustrator

to add the colour and then imported the

image into photoshop and layered it with

extra detail. The soft shading and highlights

were easier in photoshop on this occaision.

Usually I'd stick to Illustrator.

I had some spare time so I made this poster for a film that some friends and I made one weekend.

I changed my method for this one. I scanned a pencil sketch and just coloured in Photoshop.

On reflection it probably took me longer than if I'd vectorized the image and coloured it in Illustrator.

Still it's always fun doing cartoons of your friends.
